Along the years, I've witnessed Internet empires rising and falling, websites having a tremendous success at first then thrown into oblivion, insignificant sites that grew to become an Empire...and so on. I'd like to share some of this stories with you.
Internet Legends
Few days ago, I was searching the internet for a Web 2.0 platform, for my new blog. I had in mind to use Wordpress, like most of us do, but then again, I was thinking that out there must certainly be other great services similar to Wordpress. I was right !
After some search, I discovered no less than 80 services, similar to Wordpress, and some of them even better, regarding the variety of options and features. Well, Wordpress rules anyway :), but I'm just tired of it. I was surprised to see that services such as Tripod, Angelfire are still alive. I almost forgot about them. I used Angelfire, back in 2000 or so, and also Tripod. I discovered that Geocities are still to be found on the internet, but they were shut down. Geocities used to belong to Yahoo, and it was a great service for blogger, until Yahoo decided to shut it down. I find it a very bad decision, but Yahoo, is famous for its bad decisions. However, I chose weebly, not only for the nice theme designs, but also for the simplicity. Their drag and drop system makes it easy for anyone to use it, and their authority as a website is great, and that can improve seo . Anyway, I guess being on Weebly or Wordpress or any other service like this, can do wonders for your on-page seo. I'll just list few of the Web 2.0 services, besides Webbly, that I found great to use. tripod.com typepad.com wikispaces.com angelfire.com officelive.com posterous.com multiply.com wikidot.com webs.com areavoices.com blog.com
